Mrs. Wanda H. Echols was born October 19, 1939 in Springfield, Ohio to the late George Harshaw (Ruby) and Octavia Harshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick (Pat) Henry Echols; her eldest son, Kenneth (Kenny Boo) Echols; granddaughter, Tijwana; brothers, Rip and Leonard; sisters, Geraldine, Hildred (Ted) and Joan Bronston and sister-in-law, Almeda.
She was very active and an avid bowler and loved to bowl in tournaments. She loved to sing in her younger years in a singing group. She loved music and passed that on to her children. Wanda loved watching her children play sports. They were very active in various sports such as baseball, softball, track, basketball and cheerleading. She stayed busy going to as many of their events as possible. She also stayed busy by doing her three daughters’ hair as well as friends and neighbors. Wanda even did her grandchildren’s hair when they were young
Holidays were a big deal to her. She loved cooking for the family, especially during the holidays and Sunday feasts. Wanda loved holiday shopping for her children and especially for the grandchildren. The house would always be full of children and food. She enjoyed having big home cooked, made from scratch meals. She didn’t like eating out much.
Wanda retired from Navistar which allowed her to travel more. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Wanda passed the joy of travel to her children. Her memory will continued to be cherished by her eldest brother, Leroy Harshaw; sister-in-law, Nan Harshaw; her children, Lawan Echols, Wanda Echols-Ellison (Kenneth), Kevin (Kaye) Echols, Patricia Brown, Keith Echols and Patrick Echols; grandchildren, Derrick (Maria), Mimi, Kyle, Kalen (LeAnn), Keonna, Aleyah, Randy, Roschelle, Paul (Natasha), Tanish, Shawanda and Brandi, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and special longtime friends and traveling buddies, Ms. Sarah Wilds and Patricia Daniels.
