Walter Scott Portman, Sr., 66, of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.
Walter was born June 17, 1957, in Springfield, Ohio the son of Walter and Florence (Neal) Portman. Walter was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost at an early age. He was a devoted and faithful member of El Bethel Temple. Walter was called to the ministry at a young age and was faithful to his calling. He loved to preach and teach the Word of God.
Walter was a faithful, quiet, and gentle soul who loved God and his family. He had such incredible faith.
Walter worked many years for the Clark County Juvenile Court before he started his business, Dominion Building Services in 1997. Walter was a contractor who was gifted in plumbing, electrical and construction work. He was always willing to help people in his business.
He was a hard-working man from his youth up. In his spare time, he loved to write songs, poems and spending time with family.
Walter was united in marriage to Teresa Martin on June 8th, 1991, and was married 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Portman; three sons, Walter (Kristina), Brooks (Sara Jo) and Darien Portman; two daughters, Brandee Portman-Darden and Starr (Sebatian) Schaudi. He also leaves to cherish his legacy of 14 grandchildren. Two brothers, Brad and Duane Portman; three sisters, Teresa Channels, Medea (Stanley) Williams and Denise (Mark) Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence Portman; brothers, Vincent Ricardo, Juan Andre and Darrin Lee; grandparents, (Maternal) Noah and Anna Mary (Price) Neal and (Paternal) David and Thelma Portman.
