Obituary

Vincent Ricardo (Rick) Harmon 65 of Springfield, Ohio passed away January 22, 2022, unexpectedly in his home.  Rick was born February 24, 1956, in Springfield, Ohio to Daniel Sr. and Mildred (Collier) Harmon.

Rick attended North High School in Springfield, Ohio where he was one of the founding members of the 1st Black Student Union, at North High School.  He was talking Black Lives Matter and Civil Rights way back in the 1970’s. Rick worked many jobs in home construction, home remodeling, and maintenance.  He first learned those skills from working with his grandfather, Alvin Harmon Sr. (Pawpaw), at an early age. He was a skilled handyman and let everybody in the family know to call him first for anything that needed fixing.  Rick was also a very, very proud father and grandfather.  He loved to hear and tell of his children and grandchild’s many accomplishments.

Rick, his older brother Daniel and his cousin Tony all worked with Pawpaw and called themselves the Sly, Slick and Wicked. Rick of course, thought he was the leader, and on one family outing actually convinced Tony and Daniel along with their cousin Alvin Bland, to bury one of them in the sand. Nobody remembers who got buried but everybody remembers that Rick was one of the main instigators.

He was quite a character but always had love in his heart for family. Cousins, Charlie Chilton, Candy Robinson (Kenny), Teresa (Chucky) Russell and Sandra Padget to name a few; but everybody in the family knew he cared about them. He had that same caring with numerous friends throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mildred Harmon; paternal grandparents, Alvin Sr and Mae Frances Harmon; maternal grandparents, Frank and Lilly Pearl Padget; brothers, Ronald and Daniel Jr; his special brother, Tony Harmon; sisters, Linda Higgins and Angela Owens; nephews, Darren Harmon and Benjamin Macklin Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Demon (Nashea Davis) Ramey; daughter, Rose Tilly both of Springfield; granddaughter, Demoni’ Ramey; sister, Pearla (Joseph) Parks of Springfield;  brother, David Harmon of Atlanta, Ga.; aunt, Frankie Bush; nieces, Yolanda Owens, Porcia Higgins, and Tanya Davenport; nephews, Christopher Hughes, and Booker (Adrienne) Owens III, a host of cousins and great, and great, great nieces, nephews and friends.
