Terry W. Stephens
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Terry, our loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend to all whose lives he touched, on June 3, 2020. He was born on May 4, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio and was a lifelong resident.
Family was the pivotal essence of his life. This gentle loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be extremely missed by his wife of 45 years Teresa and his children Lyne Stephens of Covington, Georgia, Terry W. (Janet)Stephens II of Columbus, Ohio, Timothy Stephens of Springfield, Ohio and Thomas (Melody) Stephens of Charlotte, North Carolina. Brothers and sisters, Dale (Patty) Stephens Sr., of Springfield, Ohio, Etta Turner of Springfield, Ohio, Jacqueline Sims of Springfield, Ohio, Teresa (Garfield) Parker of Springfield, Ohio, Monica (Bishop Ronald) Logan of Springfield, Ohio, Stephanie (Stephens) Green - Tunstels of Huber Heights, Ohio and Thomas (Angie) Stephens Jr. of Columbus, Ohio. Spiritual daughters Bonnie (Victor) Napier of Atlanta, Georgia, Rhonda Fellows of Minneapolis, MN.
He cherished the role of grandfather and has been a major presence in the lives of his grandchildren, Makayla Napier, Mariah Napier, Janeyce Sanders, Janique Sanders, Tre Stephens, Gabriel Stephens,Jaylin Chaney, Andre Stephens, Maya Stephens and Skylar Stephens
He also leaves behind and will be sorely missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Stephens, Sr.; his mother, Betty Stephens and his brothers, Morris Stephens and Dwight Cross.
Terry was an associate pastor at Greater Grace Temple and director of Christian Education. He attended Central State University and furthered his studies at the International Apostolic University of Grace and Truth, where he received his doctorate in Theology. As a retired truant officer, he spent over 37 years working for the Springfield city school system and worked for Oesterlen Services for Youth for many years. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed spending his days on the green. Terry was considered by many as a community dad. Most of all he loved his family and instilled strong values that served all he met well. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
