Roosevelt “Teddy” Dunn Jr., 68, of Springfield, Ohio passed away January 31, 2022. Teddy was born November 10, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Roosevelt and Naomi (Lovett) Dunn Sr. He graduated from Roth High School in Dayton, Ohio where he was class president his junior and senior year and attended Clark State Community College and Wright State University. While at Clark State he majored in Horticulture & Landscaping because of his love for plants and gardening. He was proud of his landscaping final project for Clark State that he completed at St. John Missionary Baptist Church’s Mulberry Street expansion.
He had been employed at Code Blue and retired after many years of dedicated service. Teddy was a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and served in various ministries including Music & Worship Ministry where he played bass guitar and keyboards, Christian Men’s Fellowship, Security and Wednesday Bible Study. He was also involved in clubs and organizations outside of church including South Fountain Neighborhood Association. He played bass guitar and the keyboard and toured with national recording groups, Midnight Star, The Deele and artist, George Clinton. He played with other bands throughout his music career such as Topaz, Faze-O and Air Force tour with Suede. Through his travels with the bands, he visited all fifty states.
Teddy is survived by his beloved children, Evelyn Naomi Dunn, Roosevelt “Trey” Dunn III and Dorian Hunter and their mother, Lisa all of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Aiden Tamar Dunn and Noah Tamar Dunn and their nana, LaTaunya; aunt, Lucille Mosley; nephews, Todd and Ryan Walker; special friends, Sam Carter, Kenny Wynn and Terri Mills and a host of other relatives and friends and his St. John Missionary Church Family. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Tamara Elizabeth Dunn and sister, Brenda Dunn.
One of Teddy's favorite quotes was "Love Supreme".
Visitation is Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 3 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Face Masks are required and please practice social distancing. Interment is Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery.
