We gather to celebrate the life of Rakeem Dior Ford. Rakeem went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Rakeem, 32, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 12, 1990 to Antoinette D. (Arthur) Crossley and Eddie N. (Tomasha) Sears-Ford. Antoinette and her children relocated to Springfield, Ohio, in 1991 where he graduated high school in 2009.
Rakeem was very talented: he loved music, sports, entertainment, and had a sense for fashion. Rakeem was active in church activities. He participated in the Motown to Gospel Play.
He was a loving father, who leaves behind his children, Ta’Shaun, Taraji’Nae, Ta’Laeyah Ford (Da’Joura Snodgorass), Amina Ford (Anyia Clay), and David Ford (Kamila Portis). He also leaves behind his parents, Antoinette (Arthur) Crossley and Eddie N. (Tomasha) Sears-Ford; his siblings, Hershall R. Ford, Artasia A, Dejona M. Crossley, Shada Nelson (Ford), Edward Ford, and a host of other siblings; his grandparents, Jimmette (Dwight) Thompson, Hershall (Lynda) Scott and great aunt and uncle, Gwendolyn (Toney) Gore; his aunts and uncle, Dannette Scott and Ronnette (Brock) Johnson; his cousins, Tori Gaston, Courtney (Ashton) Rushing, Blair and Trae Johnson and Clayborne Gore; his nieces, nephews, and special friends; Darryus “Dmann” Myers Sr., Dametrus Walton Sr., Derek Nelson. Jovontae Casey, Raymond West and Titus Moore Sr. Last but not least, his bonus mother, Regina Snodgrass.
Rakeem is preceded in death by his brother, David Scott and special brother, Gary W. Strodes Jr.
Visitation is Friday, August 18, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in Greater Grace Temple. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
