Phonesalena (Bailey) Harris, 88, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, February 16, 2020. She was born the last of 8 children, March 19, 1931 in Tyler, TX, on the family farm, the daughter of the late Owen and Gustava (Smith) Bailey. Phonesalena moved to California in 1942 where she met and later married her husband in December 1954. She and her late husband started the Harris Trucking & Excavation business in 1970 and passed it on to their children who still own and operate the business. Mrs. Harris retired from Navistar International in 1990 as a payroll specialist after 25 years of dedicated service. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Akeen O. (Harris) Watson and Priscilla K. Sellers-Harris; step-daughters, Linda Benzinger and Virgie Marie House-Tutt; sons, Virgil Harris, Kesalon Harris and Samuel F. Harris; step-son, Kenneth D Harris Jr.; brother, Burnette "Nick" Bailey; grandchildren, Kochen Harris II, Lena D. Harris, Keshee A. Harris, Brianna Portis, Kesalon Owen Harris III, Angel N. Harris, Britany (Harris) Davis, Paul A. Miller Jr., Alston Michael Miller, Luther E. Sellers Jr., Michelle (Boyden) Davis, Alexis Benzinger, Christopher Boyden, Tiffany Lingle, Tracy House, Antoine House, Shanitra House. Phassia Harris, Aurora Perkins and Nykeira Harris; great grandchildren, Aria N. Miller, Paul A. Miller III, Kyree Harris and Kareem Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Douglas Harris Sr. and son, Kochen Harris I. Visitation is Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. in the City of God Church, 501 S. Wittenberg Avenue.
