Nancy Veora Priestly, passed away on September 13, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 89. She was born in Lawrence County, Illinois, on August 1, 1934, the daughter of William Creston Gray and Alene Veora Tann. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and creativity that will be cherished forever.
Nancy was a Deaconess, a Church Secretary, a Sunday School Superintendent, a Church Kitchen Coordinator, and a member of the Gospel choir. She adorned church bulletin boards with her creative touch, served as Christian Education Chair and Bible School Coordinator. Her heart for fellowship led to her participation in the Joy Path Share Group.
Nancy extended her caring nature to her community, and served as a Boy Scout Den Mother and an active member of the Parent-Teacher Association. In her youth she enjoyed archery and basketball, and she maintained a passion for puzzles, finding joy in solving the most challenging ones. Her artistic talents extended to painting and jewelry making. She was also an adept seamstress, creating garments for her four children. Nancy shared her love for cooking by catering events and volunteering with Meals on Wheels, ensuring that those in need were nourished by her caring spirit.
Ms. Priestly is preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Geneva Casey; her husband, McCoy; her brother, Melvin Gray, and sons-in-law, Michael Jones and Colin Chase. She is survived by two brothers and sister, George, Dula, and Joseph; her children, Tressia Priestly-Jones, Roderick Priestly and his wife Lisa, Debra Priestly, and Lee Priestly; grandchildren, Jarren Priestly, Vincent Jones, Stephanie Jones, Malik Jones, Faith Walker; great grand son, Chance Michael Ryan Priestly; a host of extended family members, and Ace, her faithful canine companion.
