Marques Quey Knox, 64, went home to be with the Lord May 16, 2023. He was born on October 16, 1958 at Mercy Hospital to Annette Holliday and Charles T. Knox. Marcus attended Catholic Central High School where he was a member of the track and baseball teams. He worked for Shaw industries and later was employed by Penske moving company.
Marques was full of life. He never walked out the door without one last joke to make you laugh. In the summer you would often find him sitting outside in a chair, playing some old school R&B music and of course some ribs smoking on the grill. He loved the Philadelphia 76ers & the Miami Dolphins teams. He would be dressed head to toe and his Dolphins gear with “Shake”, as he was affectionately called, embossed on the side of his hat. Marcus loved the Lord and attended The House of Prayer where he gave his life to Christ. Marcus had a laugh you will never forget, and a sense of humor that was out of this world. He will truly be missed.
Marques leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Annette Holiday; his wife of 23 years, Sherrie Wheeler Knox; uncles, Ernie (Sherry) Rosser and Willie Rosser; brothers, Everett, King James Bradley (Tiffany) Holiday and Brandon Holiday; sisters, Victoria Knox, Francis (Sid) Johnston, and Anjanette “Gidget” King; his children, Ebony (Mark) Clark, Marques (Tamara) Knox Jr., Ka’Rell (Timeca) Knox, Shindey Smoot; stepchildren, Sonserae Wheeler and Derek Wheeler Jr.; best friends, Keith Lawson, Mike Brown, Lamar Mapp, Thomas ”TC” Carter and Bo Watkins; 13 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father; uncles, Marvin and Greg Rosser, and a nephew, Brian Rosser.
Visitation is Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
