Lisa (Maness) Whitaker

Lisa L. Whitaker was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 21, 2023, at the age of 58.

She was born to Carolyn “Pat” (Maness) Bass and Percy “Sonny” Maness Sr. on March 24, 1964. Lisa was married to Samuel E. Whitaker for 23 years and together they shared 6 children Samuel Whitaker Jr., Derek Maness, Justin Boyd, Brandon Boyd; daughter, NaTashia Whitaker; stepdaughter, Taylor (Whitaker) Thompson and 12 grandchildren.

Lisa loved spending time with her grand kids, taking weekend trips any and all gadgets on Amazon, board games and puzzles. Despite her long battle with Chronic Lymphatic Cancer, she kept her sense of humor.  Lisa was quick-witted, didn’t pull any punches and kept it real. She was a servant leader in the community always willing to lend a hand and help those in need. Once you got past her tough exterior, she was a softy with a big heart.

A funeral service will be held on March 27, 2023, in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Mulberry St. entrance.

Viewing from 11:00 am -12:00 pm (the family will be present from 11:30-12:00) Funeral service will follow at 12 noon.  Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
