The Obituary of Our Beloved, Larry James Jones
The LORD called His Beloved Son, Larry James Jones, age 74, from his earthly residence in Springfield, Ohio to his heavenly home promised to him on July 14, 2023. Please understand, Larry had a personal relationship with the Father the moment he accepted His Son, Yeshua Hamashiach as his Lord and Savior.
His parents Fred Jones Sr. and Aquillaree Edmondson Jones were used as vessels to bring him forth on November 19, 1948. He was one of three (3) children born of that union. As a child he was being groomed to be respectful of adults and to work hard and to finish a job. His father would take him on jobs to perform yard work for others. His parents and his brother, Fred Jones Jr. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles preceded him in death.
Larry’s employment history was very consistent. There were times when he was laid off from work and he still sought out employment to take care of his family. He was a provider and accepted his responsibility to take care of his family at a young age.
Larry’s places of employment included, The Boston Store, Robbins and Myers, International Harvester and when laid off, he worked at The Country Club as a waiter and Wright Patterson AFB in Maintenance. He was called back to International Harvester AKA Navistar where he would work in Maintenance and served as a Union Steward for local 402. Eligible to retire in 2003 after 30 plus years of service.
As a member of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church he served in The Finance Ministry, the Trustee Ministry, Transportation Ministry, The Christian Men’s Fellowship, The Saint John Bowling Ministry and Softball Team and attended Bible Study. He was very instrumental in the painting of the Family Life Center and developed a team to share in the painting.
Larry was an avid bowler and participated in the Mixed Masters bowling League. He enjoyed playing golf and through different generations would take Tina, his daughter, and several nieces and nephews to play miniature golf. He also enjoyed the game of pool weekly and presented a challenge to Pastor Brown and Brother Okie Moore.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pearl (Posey) Jones of Springfield, Ohio; daughter, Tina Marie Jones of Springfield, Ohio; his sisters, Velma Jones Young of Huber Heights, Martha Posey of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers, Fred E. Borden, IV of Springfield, Ohio, Charles N. Borden of Springfield, Ohio. His God Daughter, Kayla M. Evans of Indianapolis, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins from generation to generation.
If our beloved Brother Larry J. Jones could speak to us on this day, he just might say:
The body that housed my soul, It’s only a shell. My soul is with my savior, eternally to dwell. Go ahead and cry, as you now say fare-well. But my beloved, please get on one accord. To be absent from the body – is to be present with the Lord.
So now with our spiritual eyes, we see him bowed before the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! So now with our spiritual ears, we hear Him speak to Larry and say – Well done thy good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things, Come and share your Master’s happiness!
We magnify the Lord for the life of His son, our Brother Larry J. Jones
To God Belongs The Glory!
