Johnathan Allen Yancey Sr.

Johnathan Allen Yancey, better known as “Jay Allen” was born to Crystal Yancey and Myron Colvin Sr., on June 8, 1994.  Johnathan departed this life unexpectedly on April 16, 2023. 

Johnathan graduated from Springfield High School.  Johnathan’s passion was his children and family.  He loved being a father and a big brother.  He was proud of all his siblings and loved seeing them succeed.

Johnathan leaves to cherish his memory four children, Johnathan Jr., Jailyah, Jayvier and Jayden; his mother, Crystal (India Coleman) Yancey; stepfather, Leon (Latoya Kirby) Howard; nine sisters, Brittany Yancey, Tyisha Yancey-Jaudon, Terra Burton, Dasia Howard, Natasia Howard, Shanequa Howard, Aaliyah Colvin, Alisa Oliphant and Armani Troutman; ten brothers, Jamar Grigsby, Savon Byrd, Myron Colvin Jr., Myshawn Clay, Jeremiah Yancey, Javon Colvin, William Howard, Leon Howard Jr., Jon Johnson Jr. and Camren Troutman; six aunts, Michelle Colvin, Annette Morris, Rachelle Howard, Janae Morris, Kawanda Jaudon and Nicole Poole; seven uncles, John Yancey, Richard Howard, William (Lorie) Pendergrass, Victor (Heather) Bishop, Lamont Howard, Dru Howard and Tay-Tay Smoot; maternal grandmother, Alma Joyce Yancey and bonus grandmother, Valerie Moore; special life-bonded cousins, Jasmine Yancey, Alex Williams, Lamont Wilson, Tayveon Smoot and Isiaha Morris and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jonathan was preceded in death by his daughter, Seyvn A’Miracle Jones-Yancey; grandmother, Barbara Colvin and uncles, DeAaron Morris and Michael Colvin.

Johnathan will be truly missed and forever loved.  His beautiful heart touched many and we will carry on his name until we meet again.

Visitation is Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
