Jerilyn Denise Corley (Jerry) was the 2nd child born to Flora Elizabeth Corley (nee: Gaines) and Demus Corley Jr. Jerry was cute, smart and a talented pianist. She graduated from Yellow Springs High School in 1969 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Kent State University where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It was there where she became ill and was never able to completely recover. However, at the height of her illness, she was able to complete her B.A. degree in Sociology from Central State University.
Jerilyn went to be with the Lord at 10:58 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Corley; father, Demus Corley Jr., and her older sister, Jacqueline Bernice Corley. She leaves behind her “baby sister”, Vicki Lynette Corley-Strong of Bedford Heights, Ohio; cousins, Barbara Sims of Daytona Beach, Florida; Edmund Cooke Jr. Esq. of Washington D.C., a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members, including her extended family from Trinity Community of Fairborn where she was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
Jerilyn brought a smile or a chuckle out of everyone she met. It was always Jerry and Vicki. You rarely saw one without the other. Growing up, she was my protector and my hero. Jerry, I love you and will miss you, but I know you are at peace in a better place.
