Georgetta Tillman Obituary

Georgetta “Gigi” Tillman, 61, of Springfield Ohio, crossed over into eternal glory on January 15, 2021. She was born to the late George Byrd and Wilma E.J. (Youngblood) Scott on January 8, 1960. Gigi attended Springfield South High School as an adolescent.  In her adult years, she attended Clark State Community College and received an Associates Degree in Social Work.  She continued her education at Capital University to earn a Bachelor’s degree in social work.  After completing her education in social work, she embarked on a journey of ministration through counseling and client advocacy.  Gigi touched so many lives while working at Green County Women’s Recovery Center, Interfaith Hospitality Network (The Craig House), McKinley Hall Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, Cornerstone Project, Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center, and The Nova House Behavioral Health Center.  She ended her career servicing troubled youths at the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center.  In the early 1990’s, Gigi gave her life to Christ.  In that moment, our Father began a work of magnificent transformation in her heart and mind. As she walked her path of discipleship, the Lord continued to etch His word into her heart, molding her into the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31.  She lived a life of obedience and was always ready to give God praise.  She worked diligently for her family and had a gift for creating an atmosphere of love and acceptance for everyone around her. When you left her presence, you just felt loved.  Gigi counseled her family and friends with wisdom, absolute truth, kindness, and compassion. Even in correction, she would love you through your mess.  She carried a special love for her children, making each one of them feel special and worthy. To them, she will forever be regarded as BLESSED. Above all, she understood exactly what God’s word said a wife should be.  Gigi executed the role of wife with excellence.  She has received credit for all that she has done in her life-spoken and unspoken.  She shall be praised at the city gates!  May our Father be pleased with her life and tell our beloved Queen Mother, “Well Done!”  Gigi’s impeccable style, gracious spirit, sophistication, and elegance will forever be cherished by her loving husband of 28 years, Conley Tillman Jr.; Her Children, Tameka N. Byrd, Andrea L. (Byrd) Stephen, Anthony E. Byrd, Conley L. Smoot, Jaronte Tillman and Toniey Tillman; Children of love, Shatyra Henderson and Jabbar Swift; Her Siblings, Kim Byrd, Anthony Byrd, Carlton Byrd, Robert Edwards, Racquel Denton and Randy Byrd; all her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Vickie Borden; a special uncle, Wilton L. Youngblood Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, very special sister-friends, and other friends and admirers. Preceded in death by one sister, April L. Byrd; one sister-in-law, Elaine Tillman and two special aunts, Geraldine Allen, and Jacqueline L. Youngblood.
