George Allen Young earned his wings on Friday, April 9, 2021 and passed from Earth to glory to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born December 1, 1946 to George W. Young and Lois (Hutchins) Young. George graduated from Springfield South High School. He retired from Navistar International in 2001 after 32 years of service.
George Allen accepted the Lord in the early 80’s when he lived in Tulsa, OK. He moved back to Springfield, OH and became a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord until he was called home. He received his Ministry Diploma from Rhema Bible Correspondence School, Tulsa, OK, in 2000. He was ordained and elevated to Elder at the House of Prayer and later became the Assistant Pastor. He was often called the “Man of Faith” where he leaned on God to see him through everything. He always said; he was in a “win-win” situation and he lived up to those words. He fought long and hard and never gave up trusting and believing in God.
After retiring George mentored for many years with the Men Today/Men Tomorrow program for St. John Missionary Baptist Church and taught the Nurturing Father’s for Life (NFL) Fatherhood program for Urban Light Ministries. He also taught classes at the Clark County Jail and McKinley Hall Alcohol/Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, OH. Mentoring young men and making an impact in their lives was George’s passion. He still had a great relationship with a young man he mentored since the age of 12, Antjuan Benson, who referred to him as his Father.
