Elizabeth Lillian Gilbert, 88, of Springfield, Ohio passed away into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 18, 2021. She was born January 3, 1933 in Anniston, Alabama the daughter of Samuel Pope and Arizona Roberts-Herndon.
Elizabeth Lillian (Roberts) Gilbert, lovingly known as "Snookie" accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a devoted stay at home mother and wife. She was a member of the Eastern Star Eureka Lodge in Springfield, Ohio.
She was a volunteer cook and strong disciplinarian at Fulton Elemntary School. She had been a church mother since 2002 at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. She was a great woman of faith and believed that there is power in the name of Jesus. She had the gift of help and encouraged those to continue on in the faith. She was caring and nurturing and had a wonderful spirit. She touched the hearts of many and was a living miracle and walked in God's will without question.
Lillian enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to gospel music, watching Law & Order and eating at her favorite restaurant, Ponderosa. Mother Gilbert loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Most of all, she loved the Lord.
She will be remembered and deeply missed by her son, Phillip E. (Paula) Roberts Sr. of Springfield, Ohio; a host of grandchildren, Phillip E. "Bootsie" Roberts Jr., Craig Bishop, Shawanta Bishop, Anthony Kelly all of Springfield, Ohio, Sara Jefferson of Greensboro, NC and Jonathan Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio; great grandchildren, Romani Roberts of Columbus, Ohio and Jonah Jefferson of Greensboro, NC, nieces, nephews, cousins and her New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church family and many dear friends.
Visitation is Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry-Clark Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
