Cynthia Rose Copeland, 61, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 12:50 p.m. in Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio. From her birth in Paulding, Ohio on September 16, 1958 to her homegoing on Thursday she nourished those around her with her love, faith and smile.
She was born to the late Robert and Doris (Boyd) Copeland and was their fifth child amongst seven, in addition to an honorary brother. At a young age, she was energetic, sociable and inclined to the arts. After finishing high school, she studied Art Education at Defiance College and later obtained her Masters of Education from Antioch University McGregor. She started her teaching career subbing at Wayne Trace School and ended her career as an Intervention Specialist in Springfield, Ohio at Performance Academies. Every place she shared her expertise, she always championed equity and fairness.
She incorporated her love for the Lord in everything she did including education. Cynthia's deep love for the Lord led her to become an ordained minister at Greater Grace Temple of Springfield, Ohio under Bishop Ronald Logan where she served faithfully. Left to honor Cynthia and remember her love are her son, Benjamin (Amia Johnson) Copeland of Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Benjamin Jr., Samantha and Joseph Copeland; brothers, James (Deborah) Copeland of Springfield, Ohio, Major (Retired) Willie K. Copeland Sr., US Army of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Jacqueline Hardman of Paulding, Ohio, Viola Goings of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Florence Goings of Paulding, Ohio and Cassandra Copeland of Springfield, Ohio, aunts, uncles and many nephews, nieces and a host of relatives, family and friends.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris (Boyd) Copeland and honorary brother, Anthony Phillips. Cynthia will be remembered as a bright, shining light to her family and friends, and within the church and community she served.
Visitation is Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Greater Grace Temple, 380 W. Leffel Lane in Springfield, Ohio with Bishop Ronald Logan officiating. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.
