Carolyn (Carol) Marie Smith on Saturday, November 23, 2022, was called Home by God to her eternal resting place at Northwood Nursing Home. She was born August 29, 1938, to Henry and Beatrice Smith Satterfield.
Carolyn accepted the Lord at an early age and was a faithful member of New Deliverance Original Church of God, Sanctified. She was a graduate of Springfield South High School and started working at Community Hospital in the dietary department and worked her way up to being a phlebotomist in the laboratory department. She retired after over 30 years of service. She also worked at the Masonic Home for a while.
Carolyn had an adopted daughter, Mesha Smith and was licensed to foster many children.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Beatrice Smith; three brothers, James Compton, Charles Compton and Henry (Wood) Smith; three sisters, Ida L. Speakes, Evelyn G. Watford and Erma L. Brown; two stepsisters, Frania Jert and Valetta Carter and stepbrother, John D. Satterfield Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory an adopted daughter, Mesha Smith; one sister, Wilma B. Smith; brother-in-law, Jimmy L. Smith; a devoted nephew, Ron A. Watford, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation is Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
