Obituary

Mr. William (Bill) Denman died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at home in Springfield after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church (Mulberry Street-Side). Pastor Ernest C. Brown, Sr. will officiate home going services. Visitation & Viewing will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the family present at noon. Bill was born in Harlem, New York on June 11, 1943 to William Denman and Mercedes Royal. His loving and faithful wife of 46 years, Patsy Denman, survives in Springfield. Also surviving is one daughter, Krystal R. Denman of Atlanta GA; a loving grandson, Kevin C. Darling of Gahanna, OH; three brothers Ronald (Barbara) Wilson of Port La Vaca, TX, Ramon Royal of Georgetown, SC, and Roderick Denman of Yonkers, NY; and five nieces and one nephew. Bill and Pat's family of choice included Ken and Cora Marsenburg, Cynthia (Delvin - deceased) Harshaw, John and Brenda Carter, Pat Bass, Beverly Lee, Selena Singletary, Floyd and Mattie Simmons of Virginia, Lori Hull and Amanda Lykins as well as special friend Don Washington. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. In 1965 Mr. Denman was honorably discharged from the US Air Force after four years of service. He attended The Ohio State University having graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Harlem NY. Bill was previously employed by COP/CAP, Floyd Dugan Ford, JTPA of Clark County, Ohio Bureau of Employment Services and retired after employment with multiple jewelry retail stores in southern Ohio. Bill was an avid pool player. Mr. Denman was baptized in 1990 after committing his life to our Lord Jesus Christ at St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he was a past member of the Finance Committee, Host & Hostess as well as Christian Men's Fellowship. Bill was also one of the longest serving members of the Springfield OIC, resigning during his illness. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Flowers and cards may be sent to St. John Missionary Baptist Church 34 W. Pleasant St., Springfield OH.
