Pastor Vurn O. Mullins, of Springfield, OH, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN. His parents preceded him in death. Pastor Mullins is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-nine years, Ida M. (Wright) Mullins; a daughter, Paulette (John R.) Gentry of Westerville, OH; a grandson, Diallo (Tamra) Gentry of Elgin, IL; special cousins, Marlene and Mark Cherry, of Columbus, OH, and a host of relatives and friends. Pastor Mullins became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church after retiring from pastoring at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served as pastor at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, OH, Union Baptist Church in Urbancrest, OH, and Calvary Baptist Church in Huntington, WV. After retiring from Mt. Zion Baptist Church he served as interim minister at First Baptist Church in Yellow Springs, OH. Pastor Mullins had a passion for his family and a zest for life. But most of all he loved pastoring and serving the Lord!
