SHIRLEY ALFREDA (MAYS) GLADNEY, 82, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield, OH. She was born February 15, 1943, in Springfield, OH, the daughter of the late Tipp and Alberta Mays. Shirley united her life with Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of several churches, Zion Hill Baptist, Greater First Baptist, Kainos International Church before uniting with the Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James H. Gavin. She was active in the Missionary Society, Praise Team and sang in the Gospel Chorus. She attended Springfield City Schools and had been employed by the Ohio Masonic Home and later pursued her passion for helping others and became a Foster-Parent. She worked at the Board of Elections, cooked at the Rib Shack and Cosmetologist. She loved gospel music and enjoyed singing and was a member of the KA Singers and the Springfield Gospel Travelers. Some of her many hobbies were cooking, sewing and making outfits, assembling jig saw puzzles, playing Pokeno, working in her flower garden and caring for her plants. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Nicole Hagans, Valerie Arnold and Akeisha Rogers; sister, Sheila Mays; grandsons, Robert, Javion, Jack, Jaquan, Braylon and Ladainian; granddaughters, Brooke, Tarryn, Breyon and Nyomi; greatgrandchildren, Jasir, Jemmell, Kamiya and Robert, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tipp and Alberta Mays; sisters, Janet and Beverly; brothers, James, Clarence, Fred, Herman, Clifford, and Allen Buck Mays; half-sisters, Emma and Evelyn Mays; special friends, Milton Moore, Treva Hall, Cheryl “Sissy” Crafter, Josephine Belle and Dorothy Lytle. Shirley was a woman of great strength and encouragement and her memory will forever shine in the hearts of her family, her church, and all whose lives she touched.
