Sheila A. (Buford) Peterson, 79, of Springfield, Ohio died on March 29, 2026. Sheila was born November 24, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio to George and Rachael E. (Gillespie) Buford. Sheila spent the majority of her career and retired from the United States Postal Service, after humble beginnings with David's Gloves and Woodrow Corporation. 

She amassed many friends and great relationships amongst her colleagues. Sheila's remaining years were spent caring for her beloved mother. A life well spent and appreciated by all. Sheila was a remarkable and "Happy" person. Quietly intelligent, generous, and thoughtful. There didn't seem to be a tune or song she couldn't name or a birthday ever forgotten. Most importantly, Sheila was incredibly selfless. If she could help, she did. If something needed doing, it was done. Every task completed in her life was in service of others, while often forgetting oneself. To her the color, "Red" meant go, never stopping. Anyone with the gift of knowing her knew she was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Her collection of related pieces is overwhelmingly vast. Sheila also enjoyed spending time (having fun) on family vacations (beaches, shopping, dining, visiting casinos) and just relaxing with loved ones.

 Sheila's untimely passing has left a hole in the lives of all who knew her. Her beautiful presence in this world will never be forgotten and the gifts she gave will live on forever. Sheila was called home early while steadfastly devout to serving the Lord. May her prayers of peace and love be honored.

 Her memory will be cherished by her two daughters, Monica Peterson of Cincinnati and Jenny Peterson of Grove City, Ohio; sister, Vivian Schooler, niece, Trischelle (Chris) Campbell and grand-nieces, Kyla Estelle and Alexis Campbell of Dayton, Ohio; former husband, Rodney Peterson of Cambridge, Ohio; cousin, Chris Massie of Springfield, Ohio, and a wealth of friends, including Doris Moore, Barbara DeWell, Rashiid, Dwight, Pam, Rick, Cheryl, and many others. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rachael Buford; grand-niece Eternity Holt, and friend, Jim O'Neill. Thank you to the many people who have influenced and enriched her life. She loved you all. Please be kind to one another and pay it forward. 

Visitation is Monday, April 6, 2026, from 12-1 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery.
