Obituary

Sandra Patricia “Bug” Howard, 85 years old, went to be the Lord while surrounded by her loving family on February 4, 2026. Sandra was born on March 19, 1940, to the parents of William “Dee Dee” Hutchins and Dorothy Lee Walker in Springfield, OH.

Sandra graduated from South High School in 1958, where she excelled in volleyball and basketball earning several honors, trophies, and accolades.

Sandra met and married the love of her life for over 30 years, Alfonzo “Brother” Howard, (whom no man put asunder) and cared for him through sickness and in health. Sandra loved her family to her core; her children were her heart, her sister was a constant comfort, and her grandkids she cherished.

Sandra enjoyed traveling, car rides, planting flowers, and was an active supporter for her family in sports. But most of all, she enjoyed her independence. She put up a hard fight (strong until the end) and would tell you in a minute “I have lived My Life!”

Sandra worked as a Nursing Assistant for a number of years and also at Robbins and Myers before going to work at Vernays Laboratories in Yellow Springs where she was a line foreman and served as the Union Trustee/Director which allowed her to travel around the country. Retiring after 30 plus years of service at Vernays, she just could not sit still; she then went to work for Comfort Suites.

Sandra joined Restored Life Ministries when it was Saint Luke granting her husband Brother Howard one of his most desired prayers to have his wife by his side at the same church. She served proudly as President of the Usher Board, President of the Benevolence Ministry and was a member of the RLM Restoration Choir.

Sandra’s memory will Forever be Treasured in our hearts by her Devoted Daughters, Sheila Miller-Hutchins and Dawn Howard; Granddaughters, Valisha (Jauan) Moss, Neandra Ramey, Charisma (Russ) Ramey, Aija (Lyle) Mapp, Shayla (Jayson) Lyles and Sa'ron Quinonez; Great-Grandchildren, KaWambee, RaHeim, Jayuan Moss, Nathan L. III and Boston Miller, Quest, Kellan and Harper Wilkinson, Jayla and Jayson Lyles, and Say’ron Quinonez; Faithful Sister, Gloria Hutchins; One and Only Special Niece, Paula Hutchins; Nephews, Channing and Anthony Hutchins; Best Friend, Betty Jones; Lifelong Friends, Barbara and Beth Steele and a host of cousins and friends.
