Ruby Mae (Lowery) Portis, 98, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2019 in  Kindred Hospital, Los Angeles, California. She was born March 5, 1921 in Springfield, Ohio to Walter Lowery and Fannie Custer.

She was employed as a Housekeeper with various families and she attended South High School.

Ruby is survived by her children, Larry (Loretta) Portis of Springfield, Ohio, Lynda Williams of Victorville, California, Rita Cammon, Carmen (Charles) Dobson of Los Angeles, California and Jacqueline  Portis-Tolliver of Duluth, Georgia, 33 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and special friend, Geneva Harding.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lowery and Fannie Custer; husbands, Ambrose Sylvester "Toots" Portis and Harold VanHook Woods; sons, Ronald and Joseph Portis; daughter, Deborah Portis-Tutt; grandsons, William and Larry Portis Jr.; granddaughters, Karonna Tolliver and Michelle "Shelly" Jackson and special friends, Maybell Hayes and Betty Champion.
