Obituary

Much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Reginald Armande Richardson, 93, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Southbrook Rest Center on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Born February 12, 1932, in Logan, West Virginia, to Lovell and Ozell (Collins) Richardson, Armande, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Aracoma High School in 1950 before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for four years, earning an Honorable Discharge. Following his service, he attended West Virginia State College, where he earned a Certificate in Masonry and met his beautiful wife, Clara Belle (Hampton) Richardson. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and from this union four children were conceived.

Armande enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked faithfully for 37 years before retiring in 1992. A man of faith, he was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Family Worship Center. There, he generously gave his time and talents, serving in maintenance, sharing his love for painting, and joyfully driving the church daycare van.

Armande is survived by his lovely wife, Clara Belle Richardson of Springfield; children Benita Umoren, Reginald (Crystal) Richardson, Carla (Alanson) Knight, and Richard (DuShawn)    Richardson; grandchildren Chantily Richardson, Emmanuel Umoren Jr., Alisa Knight, Rachel Richardson, Ashley Richardson, and Michela Sanders; brothers Wilbur (Irene) Richardson, Raymond (Cleo) Richardson, and Bernard Richardson; sisters June (Charles) Thomas and Jackie Dixon; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovell and Ozell (Collins)Richardson; brothers Lovell Richardson Jr., Lloyd Richardson, and Ivan Richardson; and sisters Margaret Sydney and Evelyn Dotson.

After a long journey, Armande succumbed to complications of Alzheimer's disease. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
