Obituary

Pauline Castleberry Wyatt Stembridge transitioned from this life to eternal rest on March 16, 2026, at Serenity Empire in Marietta, Georgia. She was born on October 30, 1935, in Sparta, Georgia, to Wade and Essie Mae (Tyus) Castleberry Sr. Pauline was married to the Late Bass Wyatt, Jr. (US Army Sergeant Major retired), for thirty-five years. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker who, along with her husband, raised three children. She supported her husband’s military career, traveling all over the United States to various military installations and doing part-time retail work when possible. She was both mother and father many times. She was a member of the choir and Senior Women’s Group at her various church memberships. Pauline loved sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-four years, Mr. Roosevelt Stembridge; three children, Wade A. (LaShelia) Wyatt, Sr., Cynthia James, and Christine Wyatt; four grandchildren, two sons-in-law, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Wade (Sandra) Castleberry, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Karen (William) Glass and Marla Embry-Patton, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Essie Mae (Tyus) Castleberry Sr.; husband, Bass Wyatt, Jr.; her sister, Wauline Smith, her brother, Claude N. Castleberry, Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stembridge and Carleen (Benton) Castleberry, and two brothers-in-law, Grady Smith, Sr., and Phillip Wyatt.

The Homegoing Service for Pauline is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 34 W. Pleasant St., Springfield, Ohio 45506. The Pastor is the Reverend Ernest C. Brown. Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, and the Homegoing Service will be from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, located at 4781 S. Charleston Clifton Road, Springfield, Ohio 45502. The Reverend Wade A. Wyatt, Sr., is the eulogist.
