Obituary

Nathan Lamar Miller, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2025, peacefully at Grandview Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Nate was one of twins born December 4, 1958, to parents Nathaniel Miller and Sandra P. Howard in Springfield, OH.  He was a gentle giant with a vivacious smile and laugh that would light up the room.  As an active sportsman, he excelled in all sports from an early age.  He graduated in 1977 from Springfield South High School and attended Findlay College.  After college, Nate poured his passion for sports into coaching young athletes throughout the city.

He met and married Janine McCullum Miller and shared 33 years together.  He retired in April, 2014 from Honda of America.

Nathan Lamar was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, never wavering his loyalty to his team. His love for sports was matched only by his love for family and friends of which there were too many to name.

His memory will continue to be cherished by his mother, Sandra P. Howard; loving daughters, Valisha (Jauan) Moss, Neandra Ramey, Charisma (Russ) Ramey, Aija (Lyle) Mapp and Shayla (Jayson) Lyles; grandchildren, KaWambee, RaHeim, Jayuan Moss, Nathan L. III and Boston Miller, Quest, Kellan and Harper Wilkinson, and Jayla and Jayson Lyles; sisters, Sheila Hutchins, Dawn Howard and Aliea Crissinger; Aunt Gloria Hutchins and Uncle Roy and Aunt Rhonda Miller; childhood friend , Kenneth "Kenny" Hargrow, and a host of cousins, friends and his "Friends of Jimmy K" family.

Nathan was preceded in death by grandparents, Dorthy and William Hutchins, Elijah and Johnnie-Bell Miller; father Nathaniel Miller; stepfather Alfonzo "Brother" Howard; twin sister, Natalie Laverne Miller; son, Nathan Lamar Miller, Jr. and granddaughter, DeArion Welliford.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, mentorship and service that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
