McCoy Cobb Priestly, 93, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Patoka, Indiana, on August 26, 1929, the son of Gradice Sylvanious Priestly and Johnie Mary Elizabeth Barker Priestly. After proudly serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, he and his wife, Nancy Veora Gray Priestly, relocated to Springfield, Ohio, in 1955. In Springfield, he was in the employ of International Harvester for twenty-one years. He then worked for the Springfield City Schools for ten years. For more than sixty years, he was a dedicated member of the Second Baptist Church. There he was a Deacon, Church Superintendent, Boy Scout Troop Leader, and a member of the Male Chorus and Gospel Choir.

Mr. Priestly loved family, church, community, and music. His mother inspired his love for singing as she and her children performed a cappella gospel. In Springfield, he sang with the Inflamatus Gospel Singers and several other community choirs. He even sang for his nurses during a recent hospital stay.

Mr. Priestly is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Howard Priestly, Loure Boling and McLove Priestly. He is survived by two sisters, Buna Mason and Delores Nolcox; his wife of 67 years, Nancy Veora Gray Priestly; four children, Tressia Priestly-Jones, Roderick Priestly, Debra Priestly, and Lee Priestly; five grandchildren, Jarren Priestly, Vincent Jones, Stephanie Jones, Malik Jones, Faith Walker; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.

Services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 615 South Wittenberg, Springfield, Ohio, 45506, on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Visitation begins at 12 PM. Celebration of Life begins at 1 PM with Pastor Dale Anthony DeGroat presiding.

Graveside service will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka, Indiana, during the coming week.
