On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, God called His angel, Mattie R. Stanford, Home.  Mattie "Becky" was born January 9, 1942 in Kensington, Georgia to Estes and Arrie Williams.  During her teenage years, she and her family relocated to Springfield, Ohio where she met her first husband, Robert Lasley, who preceded her in death. Later in life, she met and married her best friend and the love of her life, Ellis Stanford.

Affectionately, known as Aunt Bec, she had a passion for cooking and preparing delicious meal for family and friends.  She also shared her heart and home with many children through her gift of babysitting.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Estes and Arrie Williams, her husband, Ellis Stanford, her brother, Tyree Williams and her sister, Rainie Stanford.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom and cherished memories.  Surviving her are her sister, Lenora Williams-Smoot; her brother, James L. Williams; her daughter, Carol Marie Garner; nieces, Krystal, Tyresa, Kacinda Adrianna and Lauren; nephews, Tyree III and Daniel and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be Friday, July 18, 2025 at 12:00 noon in Ferncliff Cemetery
