Lorenzo "Punch" Gaines, 78, of Springfield Ohio departed this life peacefully on Tuesday July 12, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. He was born February 22, 1938 in Springfield Ohio the son of Bertha (Hayes) and David Gaines. Punch was a member of South Fountain 7th Day Adventist Church where he was the head deacon, usher and maintenance man for more than 20 years due to his love for his church. Punch graduated from Springfield High School and retired from Trenor Motors. Punch was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards and socializing with his many friends. Punch leaves to cherish his memory his companion of 38 years, Kenna Davis; sons, Ricardo M. Gaines (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) and Todd L. Gaines (Honolulu Hawaii); Kenna's children, Jimmy (Debbie) of Xenia Ohio, Kena Davis and Dawn (Ken) Hardin all from Chicago Ill., 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie (Elizabeth) Gaines, Springfield Ohio, Adrien Gaines Springfield Ohio, and one special aunt, Inez; best friends, Henry Emery and Bonnie and Keith Mills, a devoted cousin, Neal Gaines and many other relatives and friends. Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, David Jr., Robert, James and Harold.
