Lamar Mapp Sr. went home to be with the Lord July 13, 2023, in his home. He was born May 5, 1960, in Springfield, Ohio to Otha J. and Ruth (Crochran) Mapp.
As a Springfield native he was a proud Franklin Flyer, graduated from Springfield South High, and attended Lincoln Tech of Indianapolis, Indiana. Also, a proud chef at Ramada Inn and spent many years as a Gel-Coater at Glassco Plastics.
Lamar's loves were his family 1st, music, cleaning his car, catching up on his shows he recorded on DVR and, watching wrestling extremely. He also enjoyed family pillow fights and quizzing his grandchildren on what they had learned for the day every time he saw them.
He leaves to love and cherish his memory a loving wife of 34 years, Dianna Lynn (Bixler) Mapp (July 28,1989); children, Angela Moss, Aija (Lyle Wilkinson), Lamar Jr. (Chelesea Alexandar) and Jasmine and Whitney Mapp; grandchildren, James Addison III and Jai Angelo McNeal, Quest, Kellan, Harper Wilkinson, Jayden Howard, Layla, Layken Mapp and, Ro'Mel Smith; aunt, Naomi Carter; brothers, Otha, Danny and Darrell Mapp and a host of cousins (who were like siblings) nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Ob and Bertha Crochran; aunts Rosa Lee Mays, Marie Crochran, Wilma Channels, and Lula Jones.
Visitation is Friday, July 21, 2023 from 6-7 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
