Josephine "Mother Josie" Howard, 93, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. She was born September 11, 1923 in Springfield, a daughter of Nelly and Lula (Nealy) Matthews. She leaves to cherish her memory nieces, Peggy Bray, Joan Bailum, Mary Jean Wilkerson and Sondra Wilkerson. She was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, Albert C. Howard; sisters,  Mary E. Wilkerson, Geneva Matthews and Virginia Matthews and a brother, Elmer Matthews. Mother Josie retired from Wren's Department Store, after 34 years of service. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at age of 13 years old. She was baptized at the little Church of Jesus on Chestnut Ave. and stayed faithful until being called home. She held many positions in the church including Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent and most important she was a Prayer Warrior that could be found at 6:00A.M. prayer every week. She was also a singer in the " Coral Group" for years they would travel all over the US singing gospel music. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
