It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Elizabeth Artis Egler announces her passing on April 13, 2018 at the age of 83 in Springfield, Ohio. She was the only child born to Edith Artis Ellicott on May 13, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Tyrone (Robert ) Artis of Palm Springs, California, Juan "Jay" (Sonya) Mitchell of Las Vegas, Neveda and Hiram "Tiny" Johnson of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two daughters, Marjorie Mitchell Burton and Shalli Mitchell Brooks of Springfield, Ohio, 15 grandkids and 29 great grandkids. Joan will also be forever remembered by her uncle with whom she was raised as brother and sister, Melvin Armstrong and her special friend, Darryl Leanard and numerous extended family and great friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, Egler; mother, Edith E. Ellicott; son, John Lamar Mitchell and grandsons, Charles "Chuckie" Hughes Jr. and Juan "Lil Jay" Mitchell II.
