James Harvey "Zigg" Pritchett, Sr., 87, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Villa Springfield Rehabilitation Center. James was born September 12, 1938, to Hartford and Geneva (Rose) Pritchet. He proudly served two tours in the United States Navy, and after returning home, he worked for several years at International Harvester. 

Known to family and friends as Jimmy or Zigg, James found joy in the simple things. He loved fishing, and had a true green thumb, with a deep knowledge of plants and gardening that he was always happy to share. He never missed a chance to play the Ohio Lottery, always convinced his lucky number was just one ticket away. 

James is survived by his sons, Charles (Bernetta) E. Pritchett of Gulfport, MS, and James (Kim) H. Pritchett, Jr. of Springfield, OH; sister, Cheryl (Jacob) Taylor of Springfield, OH; brother, Dale (Mary) Pritchet of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including special nephew Vincent “Vinnie Lamont” Bray. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hartford and Geneva Pritchet; son, Mike Applin; sisters, Mary Pritchet, Glenna Walker, Gloria B. Hall, Doris Pritchet-Smith; and brothers, Hartford Pritchet, John Pritchet, Robert "Bobby" Pritchet.

Visitation is Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery, Solder's Mound with the United States Navy Honor Guard presenting military honors.
