George Fitzgerald Lawrence, 73, departed for his heavenly home on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 6:31 A.M. George was born on January 24, 1945 in Clarendon, Jamaica to Gerald Lawrence and Fredricka Connage. George loved God and shared His love with others at every opportunity. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Valerie (Robinson) Lawrence. George and Valerie had 6 children, Glen (Kenna) Forbes of Freeport, Bahamas, Veronica Cunningham Lawrence, Patrice Frazier Lawrence, Fitzroy (Karalee) Lawrence, Melissa Lawrence of Springfield, OH, and Johnathan (Jessica) Lawrence of Medway, Ohio. George was a grandfather of 9, Bianca Lawrence (Matthew Yinger), Genae (D'Angelo) Forbes Roberts, Janique Cartier (William Harmon), Jahkahl Stevens, Jane'sha Lawrence, Tranyse Frazier, Byron Lawrence, Mya Lawrence, and Kelsi Lawrence, and one great grandson William Harmon III. George was one of 10 siblings and is survived by his sisters, Daphne Douglas of Silver Spring, Maryland and Etta Huggins of Cummings, Georgia. He is survived by nieces Victoria (Myon) Huggins Watson of Cummings, Georgia and Altheia (Milton) Wisdom of Silver Spring, Maryland and a host of other nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include a brother-in-law. Neville Robinson and family, sisters-in-law Carol Steir and family, Julia Sterling and family and Halvan (Sandra) Edwards and family and his church mother and secretary, Sister Mary Shropshire and family. George had numerous ministers and their families with whom he associated. George had been a member of Full Gospel Church of God in Christ in Springfield, OH since 1983. After many years of service, George became an elder of the church and most recently, had been the acting pastor since 2015. When asked how he was doing, George always answered, "Life is in the body." While we know that life is no longer in his earthly body, his heavenly body has eternal life and is free from all pain and suffering. Services for Pastor George Lawrence will be performed by Pastor Wesley Sellers at Full Gospel Church of God in Christ at 546 Fair St. Springfield, OH 45506 on Friday, August 10, 2018. A viewing will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Burial ceremonies will immediately follow the funeral at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, OH. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Robert C. Henry-Clark Funeral Home in Springfield, OH.
