George E. Burns, 78, of Springfield, Ohio passed away January 25, 2018. He was born October 18, 1939 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Maceo and Beatrice (Henry) Burns. George retired from Navistar International after many years of service. He was a sponsor and counselor for Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a frequent visitor at the S. Limestone St. McDonalds. George is survived by his loving family, sons, Vyron Sims and Stephen Phillips; daughter, Melissa R. Phillips, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; lifelong friend, Joe Stamper and beloved nieces and nephews, Jo Karen Rhone, Yvonne Thevenot, Kent Edwards and John Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Carl Burns and sisters, Helen Burns, Louise Burns and Marlene Edwards. Visitation is Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Zion Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements provided by the Robert C.
