Elder Walker was a woman of God who centered her life in Christ Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior, the Bible, family and education. She gave her life to these Christ centered values and sacrificed much to live out her authentic witness of Christ, not only for herself and her family, but for all people. She was an evangelist and later became an ordained minister of the gospel. Her faith journey began at her home and family church, Pine Grove AMEZ Church.
After moving north to Cleveland, Ohio to live with her brother and sister, Arthur Cleveland and Irene (spouse), Elder Walker became a member of Israelite Baptist church. She then became a charter member of Bible Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. After moving to Cedarville, Ohio, she served as First Lady of Zion Baptist Church in Clifton, Ohio. Then she moved to Springfield, Ohio and became First Lady of St John Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life she affiliated with the International Community Church where she was ordained, Mt. Enon Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio and Fountain of Life Community Church in Springfield, Ohio. She would also visit Southgate Baptist Church (related to Cedarville University) and Tryed Stone Baptist Church also in Springfield.
Elder Walker attended segregated public schools in Tuskegee and Pine Grove AMEZ primary school but later graduated from an integrated public high school, Springfield South High School. She attended night school classes there while raising a young family. Elder Geneva graduated from Clark County College with a nursing degree just in time to provide for her family when she became a single-mother. After her children left for college, she graduated from Urbana College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, University of Dayton with a Master's degree in Social Work and Payne Theological Seminary with the Master of Divinity degree. She was always active in her church, community and neighborhood. She created and found opportunities to pray, encourage and care for others.
Elder Walker leaves behind her surviving siblings, Willie T. Chisolm, Sally Bradford, Arthur Cleveland Willis and Lubertha Willis (Theodis Willis), her children, her grandchildren, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
