Ernestine (Strickland) Gentry, 93 of Springfield, OH. peacefully departed this life on July 27, 2018 at the Ohio Masonic Home surrounded by her family. She was born March 29, 1925, the youngest of 11 children, to the late Allie (Powers) and Daniel Strickland. Ernestine was a lifelong active member of Covenant United Methodist Church, owner & operator of Ernestine's Beauty Salon, a cosmetology instructor at JVS and an inspector with the State of Ohio. Mrs. Gentry leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Deborah Woods, Patty (John) Young and Sherry Gaines; one son, Tobe (Patricia) Gentry; 7 grandchildren, Carlton Woods, Jesse Bray, Scott Woods, Kelli (William) Bray Joiner, Jerrid (Katrina) Gaines, Jerrod (Timbrie) Gaines and Tobe Gentry III, 14 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation is Friday, August 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in Covenant United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
