In Loving Memory of David Sanford

June 9, 1946 - August 1, 2025

David Sanford was a man of deep conviction, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Born on June 9, 1946, to Geneva and Joseph Sanford, David lived a full and meaningful life grounded in family, community, and purpose.

He passed away peacefully at the age of 79 at home, with his beloved son and special nephew by his side, on August 1, 2025.

David found joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting with his son, riding motorcycles, training his dogs, and taking long walks. He had a profound love for horses and took great pride in riding and caring for them—forming a quiet bond with each one and finding peace in their presence. One of his greatest joys was simply sitting on his porch, sharing stories and conversation with neighbors.

David was a passionate advocate for his community. He spoke frequently at City Council meetings, using his voice to stand up for the voiceless and to bring attention to important local issues. He was especially devoted to advocating for the less fortunate, always striving to create a more compassionate and just world for those in need. His honesty, courage, and deep sense of responsibility made him a respected and powerful presence in civic life.

He was a protector, a teacher, and a mentor to many. Known as a mastermind in his own right, David approached life with passion, intelligence, and an open heart. He was a great man—steadfast, thoughtful, and deeply committed to the people and places he held dear.

David was a construction worker, Labor Union member and a City Council Advocate.  He retired from Teledyne Ohio Cast and Labor Union 1410 member since 1991.

David is survived by his sister, children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geneva and Joseph Sanford; daughter, Regina Michelle Sanford, brothers, Walter, Joseph, John Sanford and Michael Baker; sisters, Joanne Peal and Jenny Worthington; nephews, Ed Lamar Peal, Johnny, and Aaron Sanford; niece, Ashley Peal.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on August 16, 2025, at Robert C. Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 10:00 a.m., with services to follow at 11:00 a.m., concluding at 12:30 p.m.

David's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
