Before the Internet with all of its search engines, if you had a question and needed an answer, what did you do? Quite simple, our family asked Charles Dozier. He was the family Librarian. He always had the most up-to-date Encyclopedias and was a fast adopter of the personal computer. Charles had an insatiable curiosity, which led to his continued pursuit of knowledge.
Charles Dozier was born in Springfield, Ohio on September 13, 1934. He developed and exemplified strong character and integrity throughout his life. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. Charles was the type of man that you wanted in your corner. He was always willing to offer an unvarnished opinion - no nonsense and straight forward. He served in the United States Army for 2 years, and then began an accomplished professional career, serving as a supervisor at Defense Electronic Supply Center for over 30 years. Post retirement, he continued to stay busy as a skillful painter, expert handicapper with the horses, and served as the Dozier family historian. He lived an interesting and fulfilling life.
His greatest impact was the care and support he provided his family. He was integral to the care of both his parents who preceded him in death, Lester and Zena Mae Dozier. He was dedicated to his brothers and sisters - providing care to his older sister Carrie Byrd until her death. He was a rock to his brothers, John Thrasher, Van Lee Thrasher, and Ronald Dozier who preceded him in death, and his youngest brother, Donald Dozier who survives him.
Charles was a dedicated husband for over 20 years to Bettina Roberts Dozier. He was a loving father to his girls Kim (Dozier) Stinnett and Karen (Dozier) Hardnick, and a great father-in-law to Donn Stinnett and Chris Hardnick. He was a fun and inspiring Grandpa to Jessica, Derrick, Jasmine, and Chris. He was a Great-Grandpa to Derrick Junior.
Charles led a life filled with purpose and impact for his family and friends alike. Most importantly, he made the decision to put his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. On June 19, 2018 he was called home. He will be missed, but we rejoice that he is with the Lord.
