Reflections of the Life of Carole L. Mundy

Carole Mundy, 99, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on the evening of December 4, 2024, at Villa Springfield Healthcare Center while under the care of Cherish Hospice with her faithful daughter by her side.

She is the youngest daughter of the late James W. Leigh (coal and ice dealer) and Ruth (Hardin) Leigh (accountant and antique dealer).

Carole had the spirit of strength, intelligence, wit and charm to pursue her dreams.  She worked at various jobs and positions during her lifetime.  In the medical field she was an LPN, a certified respiratory therapist and EKG technician, and a counselor and care giver to the mentally ill.  She also was a machinist for Hughes Helicopters and Omco Company, and an office manager for various businesses.  She believed in hard work.  She finally retired at the age of 86.  In her early years, she was a member of North Street AME Church and later, frequently visited the South Fountain Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Carole graduated from Springfield South High School and attended Central State University.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alice Robinson, Bonnie Sims and Virginia Armstrong; two sons, Eric D. Mundy and Allan L. Mundy.  Her memory will be cherished by her three daughters, Dr. Wanda Stewart (Jimmie) Hardin, Miriam Jean (Bernard) Kee and Deidria Mundy Washington (the late Byron); eight grandchildren, Nathaniel, Eric, Derrick, Yusef, Tirhakah, Jonathan, Eric Durand and Erika, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be held in memoriam on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Greater Grace Temple at 380 W. Leffel Lane, Springfield, Ohio. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
