Obituary

I was the oldest daughter of Norman and Bertha (Mundell) Leath. I graduated from Springfield South High School, was inducted into the National Honor Society and received my Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from Miami University. While there I married Charles E. Carter and later had my daughter, Bette Charlene. We named her after both of our names. She was nicknamed "Punkin". A year and a half later we had our son. Norman Brindley. He was named after our fathers. His nickname is Nobby. I worked several years at Antioch College as a dietician and I can remember taking it upon myself to prepare meals at our home for the senior citizens. I also would volunteer to prepare the dinner for the Annual Frontier's Dinner held for the elderly during Thanksgiving that was always held at Mt. Zion Church. After I divorced, I left Springfield and moved to Flint, Michigan to begin work as a dietician at MIT. I then changed professions in the 90s and moved to Atlanta, Georgia with my son to begin work as a realtor for Coldwell Banker. In 2009, we both moved back to Springfield to be closer to our family. I have always enjoyed cooking, reading (especially murder mysteries), boating and fishing and listening to classical music. Not necessarily in that order. My favorite pastime was playing with my Yorkshire Terrier, Pepper. He was my heart. My children always accused me of loving him more than I did them (Smile). I will truly miss my sisters, Norma (Atty. Robert) Sawyer and Phyllis Berry. We had such a good time together. And, I loved talking to my grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Daryll Brown and Marlowe Earley. Even though I did not spend a lot of time with my great grandchildren, Sydney Earley and Christopher Brown II, they both knew that I loved them very much. I don't want to forget all of my nieces and nephews, who were there when I needed them. I will always remember the acts of kindness and expressions of love during my illness. You helped me find strength when I needed it. May God continue to bless you all.
