Augustus M. Mack, Jr., 83, of Dayton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2015.
He was born on May 31, 1931 in Lexington, Kentucky the son of Ila (Merritt) and Augustus Mack, Sr. He attended Lexington City Schools graduating from Douglas High School in 1949.
Augustus served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He was part of the 2nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron, McGuire AFB, Trenton, New Jersey. While in the service, he received an Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Augustus received his Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. While there he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Gamma Epsilon Chapter. Following graduation, he began working for Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a Mechanical Engineering Technician. He retired in 2003 after 52 years of dedicated service.
Augustus held memberships in many organizations. He became a member of the Champion Lodge No. 15, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons in 1966, serving many years as a dedicated secretary. He was a 49 year member of Miami Consistory No. 26, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a member of Akbar Temple No. 41, Ancient Egyptian Arabia Order Nobles of Mystic Shrine serving as Illustrious Potentate in 1973 and had also received the Noble of the Year Award. He was a Connecting Link in the Springfield Chapter of Links, Inc. and a member of the Strivers Club, Springfield, Ohio
Augustus leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his wife, Pamela Mack; daughters, Michelle Mack, Springfield, Ohio, Whitney Mack Briggs, Dayton, Ohio; stepson, Richard Bullard, Detroit, Michigan; sister, Mary Evans, Columbus, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Deborah Stokes, Columbus, Ohio, Dorothy Mack, Lexington, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Cindy Mack, Fort Washington, Maryland; grandchildren, Richard Bullard, Jr., Taylor Middleton, Jerryl Briggs, Jr., all of Dayton, Ohio, Amirah Mack, Fort Washington, Maryland and Tristan Bullard, Detroit, Michigan and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Augustus was preceded in death by his parents, Ila and Augustus Mack, Sr.; son, Mark Mack and brother, John Tim Mack.
