IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arnett (Mitchel)
Hardnick
December 22, 2022
On December 21, 2022, Mrs. Arnett Mitchel Hardnick transitioned to her new home where she will continue to watch over her beloved family.
Born May 29, 1939 in the Scott community of Bolivar County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Robert Mitchel and Ruby May Hayes Mitchel. Reared in Springfield, OH, she married (her former husband) Melvin Hardnick in 1956.
While rearing her four children, Mrs. Hardnick worked at the Wright Patterson AFB. She was held in high esteem by her fellow employees and served as a union representative. Mrs. Hardnick also served as Treasurer for the Trinity AME Church and was committed to helping others realize their dreams and aspirations. Mrs. Hardnick was a long-standing supporter of eradicating injustices and inequality. For much of her adult life, she was a member of the Springfield Branch of the NAACP and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Conference of the NAACP and chaired its Fair Housing Committee. She loved to travel and visit casinos.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Hardnick experienced the sadness associated with the loss of loved ones at both ends of the life spectrum. Her mother and her grandson [Chris Hardnick, Jr. of Dumfries, VA] were called to the eternal homeplace prior to her arrival. Those left behind to mourn her loss and to cherish her memory include sons, Melvin and Jeff of Springfield and Chris (Karen) of Dumfries, VA; a daughter, Rayjean of Springfield; a grandson, Melvin Jr of Springfield; a granddaughter, Jessica L. Hardnick-Kirkland (Shawntae) of Chesterfield, VA; and a host of friends.
While we have lost the physical presence of Arnett Mitchel Hardnick, she will be forever remembered in our community by the many lives that she touched and the standards she set for her children.
A Celebration of Life service is to be announced at at later date.
