Andy McConnell Jr. of Springfield, OH, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 13, 1954 in Springfield, OH. Andy was an exceptional athlete in high school and college. He excelled at track & field, basketball, bowling and singing. He attended Central State University and worked for over 40 years at UPS. He was a remarkable human being and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Hall) McConnell; parents, Andy McConnell and Louise Manuel; grandson, Antonio Cobb; and nephew, Charles Humphrey. He leaves to cherish his memory his eight children: Don (Cassandra) Bates of Cincinnati, OH; Andrea Hall of Columbus, OH; Anthony (Michelle) Cobb of Grovetown, GA; Tevin Stewart of Springfield, OH; Andy McConnell Jr. of Springfield, OH; Anna McConnell of Springfield, OH; Noel McConnell of Springfield, OH; and Kay McConnell of Springfield, OH; grandchildren: Don Bates Jr., Anthony Cobb Jr.; Alecia Thompson; Dayveon Bates; Michael Bates; Donzel Bates; Taleah Bates; Ton'ia la'nay Bates; Don'te Bates; Doniesha Bates; Tiarra Kidd; Toressa Kidd; Angel Cobb and Jonathan Cobb; siblings: Cynthia Bullard of Springfield, OH; Alma (Wendell) Humphrey of Springfield, OH; Patricia Miller (Hayward Stringfield) of Springfield, OH; Debra Dade of Springfield, OH; Andrea Lassiter of Springfield; a very special cousin, The Bishop Steven Haupe of Missouri and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
