March 4, 1955 – July 9, 2025
Alan S. Henry, 70, of Springfield, Ohio, transitioned from his earthly home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center. Alan was born on March 4, 1955, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Betty and Robert C. Henry. He was educated by Springfield City Schools, where he was an exemplary student. After graduating from Springfield South High School, he attended Ohio University and Wright State University. He worked as a counselor at Oesterlen Services for Youth, where he made a positive impact on many, if not most, of the young residents, with whom he remained in contact. In addition, Alan joined his father, brother and sister in the family business at the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home and worked there until his untimely death. Alan was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. In December of 2023, Alan married Sheila Rice. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Alan's memory will live in the hearts of his loving mother, Betty Henry; his wife, Sheila Lash-Rice Henry; one sister, Lisa Henry; a niece who he adored, Katheryne Lindsay Ayers; stepchildren; Jaimee Jordan, Starr (Anthony) West, Sasha (Terrell) Turner and Cecil Rice; step grandchildren, Anthony West, Skylar "Woo Woo" Turner and Ariel Rice; special friends, Jeffrey Tolliver, Stephen Nash, Bishop Steve Houpe, Dewitt Means, Romell Riggins, Tony Tilley, Kurtz Walton, Nathaniel Jackson and Larry Toney; many cousins whom he loved unconditionally; and other dear friends and extended family.
