Irving Gentry Obituary
Irving Trent Gentry, age 66, departed this life at his residence on Wednesday April 3, 2018. He was born in Springfield Ohio on June 26, 1951 to the late Irvin and Rosie Jayne Strickland Gentry.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandmother Lula Gentry and step-mother Eunice V. Gentry.
He was a 1970 graduate of Springfield South High School where he was an active sportsman. After graduating he played semi-pro football for the Springfield Sun Devils and played softball for Stroh Brewery.
Trent was retired from Navistar and a member of Mystery Lodge #45 Knights of the Pythias (K of P) social club of Springfield.
He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and of The United Methodist Men.
He had a great sense of humor and often greeted his women family and friends with "Darlin' how ya doin'?" He was a proud father and grand-father who cherished family get togethers' and reunions. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan and loved to fish.
Trent will be greatly missed by all and leaves to cherish his memory his son Irving Trent Chip (Gina) Gentry, II, two grandchildren: Irving Trent (Trey) Gentry, III and Tressa Marie Gentry, two sisters: Teressa (Spencer) Samuel and Lisa (John) Rakestraw, two nieces: Regan Rakestraw and Camryn Rakestraw, two aunts: Ernestine Gentry and Flossie Gentry, devoted cousins: Debbie Woods, Patty (John) Young, Tobe (Patricia) Gentry, II, Sherry Gaines and Wendy (Eddie) Ford; devoted friend James Bush and a host of cousins, many relatives and friends.
