Frances Jones Obituary

Frances Louise Fletcher-Jones (90), born in Springfield, Ohio, August 4, 1929 went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2019 surrounded by her husband and children. Frankie, as she was affectionately called, was the 15th child born to Brindley and Mary Carter. Frankie was a member of Greater Grace Temple where the Pastor is one of her son’s Bishop Ronald M. Logan. Frankie graduated from Springfield High School in 1947. In 1948 Frankie married the Love of her Life, George Elden Fletcher and to that union were born 5 children: Vivian Marie (Vickie), Margaret Ann (Peggy), George Eldon Jr., Steven Lewis (Stevie), and Lorraine (Lois). On January 13, 1966, Frankie’s husband Eldon died at the very early age of 39, which left her to raise 5 children alone. In 1968, Frankie’s oldest daughter Vickie died of a liver disease. Even though life had brought many losses, Frankie refused to give up on life. She would work every day at Mercy Hospital, leaving instructions with her children on how to behave while she was gone. She also served on many boards and committees in the city, which opened a door for her to become a Residential Supervisor at Oesterlen Home for Youth. She became the mother to the boys who live in her Cottage. She went to school at Chapel Hill to further her Education.
To add to the list, Frankie was an anointed singer. She would travel to surrounding churches ministering in song. There was never a dry eye in the place, for she would not just sing, she would minister to the hearts of the people. Frankie released 3 records. She was asked to go professional, but she did not want to go on the road when she had small children. She chose her children. In 1980, Frankie lost her youngest son Stevie (age 23) in a car accident. This was a very devastating and unexpected tragedy, but she still continued to lift up and praise the name of Jesus. Even when her heart was broke, Frankie continued to love and open her doors to those in need. She would open her doors to children and families that needed a place to stay and eat. The Wilberforce and Central State students, while attending the Church of Jesus, would love to stop by to get a good home cooked meal. She welcomed everyone with a smile.
In 1981, Frankie was introduced to Orland Jones and was united in holy matrimony at the Church of Jesus. She left the city and moved to a farm in Mechanicsburg, Ohio and helped Orland raise 5 children: Scott, Leo, Jody, Bonnie, and Leslie. Frankie was able to live out the remainder of her life beside her beloved husband who will sadly miss her.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents: Brindley and Mary Carter, siblings: Ewing Carter, Eugene Carter, Jasper Carter, Donald Carter, Charles Carter, Hattie (Robert) Buford, Gertrude (Charles) Smith, Ann (Aaron) Henry, Viola (Henry) Pitts and Margaret (John) Clark. Frances leaves to cherish her memories her children: George Eldon (Karen) Fletcher Jr., Peggy Lacey, Lois Fletcher, Tracy Jones, Leo Jones, Jody (Asa E.) Canaday, Bonnie Jones, and Leslie Jones. grandchildren: Michael (Amante) Lacey Jr., Steven Lewis Fletcher Jr., George Eldon Fletcher II, Camille Fletcher, Sierra Canaday, Isaiah Canaday, Mya Canaday, Alanna Canada, DeAndre Jones, Dominick Jones, Olyvya Jones, Brooklyn Jones, Michael Jones, Nathan Jones. great-grandchildren: Sydney Lacey, Michael Amante Lacey II, Skylar Davis, and Luna Davis. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved adopted sons, Kent Adsit, and Bill (Annette) Tuscherer (two young men from her unit at Oesterlen Home) whom she loved so much. "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." ( II Corinthians 5:1). Mom, we knew that you were losing your sight and hearing. Your steps were no longer swift and fast, but now you have another house. In this house you will see and hear clearly. You will be able to see Jesus, hear his voice. You will be able to dance and sing and you won’t get tired. We know you are now resting with the saints that have gone before you, your Beloved Bishop Pratt, your Friend Sis Catherine Hansbro, young Hayden Jackson (The Maestro), and your beautiful children, Vickie and Stevie. Rest well Mom, you will rise first and then we will all be caught up to meet Him in the Air. We will see you around the Throne. Love you Mommy.  Visitation is Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at Greater Grace Temple.  Burial is Monday, December 30, 3019 at 10 a.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery.
