Ernest retired as a metal welder from O. S. Kelly of Springfield. He was a lineman for Springfield Sun Devils. He was also a very skilled fisherman and loved to share his passion for the sport with many young men often becoming their mentors. He would spend hours on his boat with his sons and friends. Ernest was a very positive, loving and caring husband, father, brother, and father figure to many. No matter the situation he would always seem to have a smile. He was affectionately known to some as "June Bug" Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Thelma (Johnson) Quick, two brothers; John and Robert "Bobby" Quick, and four sisters; Maxine, Salley, Ernestine Quick and Norma Jean Oliver. He leaves to cherish his memory wife of 34 years, Emma (Kelly) Quick; children Dorsey F. Marable and Thomas Quick of Dayton, Ohio, William (Natalie) Taylor of Columbus, Ohio, Natascha (Kofi) Pratt of Chesapeake, Virginia, God Son Emanuel "Zirome" Bibbs and, Antoinette Quick of Springfield, Ohio; two brothers, Richard and Donald Quick of Springfield, four sisters; Geraldine Quick of Springfield, Arlene Slay of Roselle, New Jersey, and Joan Sims of Cincinnati, Ohio.
