Donna Lee Owens was born on February 11, 1945 in Dayton Ohio to Horace Owens and Lucille (Curl) Owens. She was called home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2020.
After Donna’s graduation from Springfield South High School, she attended school in Marquette, MI and graduated from Clark State Community College in 1991. Donna was a dependable and conscientious worker for several years at the Children’s Home. Donna carried that same work ethnic to the Springfield Manor (the former IOOF) as a dietary aide where she retired from in August 2017. She made a positive impact on many residences and staff with her compassionate nature. When Donna wasn’t working, she devoted her time and attention to her son, Andrew.
As the oldest girl in a family of 11, Donna was often given the responsibility to be the child care provider while her parents worked. Donna was a very private person and had a quiet demeanor, but she could make her presence known if and when needed. Her yes meant yes and her no meant no. She was a perfect example of the phrase “what you see is what you get” because of her straightforward, no-fuss way of living. Her relationship with God was also very personal and private.
Other than a serious case of rheumatic fever which delayed her high school graduation date, Donna was in good health. This sudden health issue was an unexpected event for the family, but not for our omniscient God.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William Owens, Bernice Henry, Linette Owens and Clarence Greene. Left to cherish her memory are son, Andrew Lee Owens of Clearwater, Florida; granddaughter, Jennifer Webb; brothers Michael (Delores) Owens of Baltimore, MD, Clayton (Yvonne) Owens of Springfield, OH, Reynard (Pearline) Owens of Columbus, OH, Horace Steven Owens of Springfield, OH, Keith (Melinda) Owens of Columbus, OH and Karl (Brenda) Owens of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Mary Bentley of Springfield, OH and Susan (Lloyd Jr.) Moore of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Marva Greene; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
